Santorum Out

As expected, Rick Santorum will end his campaign for the Presidency today — pre-Pennsylvania — according to Fox News.  He ran a fine race, greatly exceeding expectations. At 53, he has a strong political future. Just needs to stop speaking off the cuff.

Santorum Momentum Killer in Land of Lincoln

Rick Santorum’s momentum got stopped dead in its tracks last night in Illinois. He didn’t have to win the state, but he needed to do better  than a 12-point second place. Newt Gingrich proved once again that he no longer has a rationale for running. He can’t  win in the south, other than in his home […]

Can Rick Santorum Put it Together?

The growing question is not how does one stop Mitt Romney’s inexorable march to the Republican nomination, but how does one stop Rick Santorum — if he can put it together. The former Pennsylvania senator looked like a winner to me on stage last night in Louisiana, not because he had just won the Alabama and Mississippi […]

Game of Chicken Dinner

If Newt Gingrich were to drop out of the presidential race, Rick Santorum would have a legitimate shot at the Republican nomination for President. Santorum’s Convictions

It’s easy to be a coward as a New York Republican. You’re badly outnumbered and, unless you are willing to get yelled at frequently, it’s more painless to acquiesce to the general opinions of the day in polite society — to murmur tacit agreement — than to pull the pin on the hand grenade by […]

Quote of the Day, George Will

[Rick Santorum] is an engagingly happy warrior, except when he is not. Then he is an angry prophet of a dystopian future in which, he has warned, people will be ‘holed up in their homes afraid to go outside at night.’ He has the right forebodings but might have the wrong profession. Presidential candidates do […]

Satan Joins Campaign Trail

This may fill a news cycle or two… (Campaign conversation: “Any last advice for me, John?  “You’re going to be great!  Just try not to talk about SATAN today.”)

The Santorum Cringe Factor

Rick Santorum is a necessary character on the national stage. He is immovable on social issues that so many in the Republican Party, including me, would prefer to run as far away from as possible, both personally and politically. But he is doing the nation a service by raising issues that make so many of […]

Pretty Good Santorum Ad

Not sure this will be effective, but it must have been a blast to make.
